Broco Energy Helps Helene/Milton Survivors

Written on: November 4, 2024

Our Priority 1 Emergency Response Team is always ready to assist

The damages of Hurricane Helene, followed swiftly by Hurricane Milton, were devastating and heartbreaking, as wind, storm surge, and flooding destroyed homes and businesses and took lives.

In the aftermath, the Broco Energy® Priority 1 Emergency Response Team was swiftly on the scene in North Carolina and West Florida to help, with our biggest fleet yet to assist residents, first responders, health care providers, businesses, and more.

The emergency response efforts involved 50 diesel and service trucks, along with coordinating efforts from 10 other Massachusetts fuel companies.

Broco’s post-storm work began in the Henderson and Ashville areas in North Carolina then moved on to West Florida after being asked by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) to head and manage efforts in the Tampa area. The diesel fuel Broco trucked in powered generators that kept hospitals, health care facilities, shelters, emergency services facilities, water pumps, and more operational.

Fueling the generators allowed rescue and service organizations, municipalities, and businesses to provide essential and emergency services to the people and businesses in their communities.

Broco owner Bob Brown told Boston 25 News, “It’s really motivating when you’re seeing what you’re working and what you’re helping in real time.”

Brown is a veteran, as are many Broco employees. Because of that experience, we understand the importance of preparation and the ability to move fast for an effective response that supports local efforts.
