While the move toward ultra-low-sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) in recent years has made heating oil much cleaner and more efficient than it has ever been before, one fuel is at the forefront of this progress, and Broco Energy is proud to carry it: Bioheat.
Massachusetts is leading the way on the evolution toward a green, renewable fuel oil. Bioheat, a blend of biodiesel and ULSHO, is more eco-friendly than conventional heating oil. And it’s made domestically.
Clean-burning and efficient, Bioheat provides homes with a healthier environment. In addition to being efficient itself, Bioheat adds to the life span of heating equipment and helps it run better. These added efficiencies result in lower bills for you.
Customers are always pleased to learn that Bioheat can be used on existing heating-oil systems—with no modifications! That means you can switch to this biodegradable, nontoxic fuel without altering or replacing your furnace or boiler—and the fuel even costs the same as the heating oil you’re accustomed to.
If you’re ready for an upgrade anyway, you’ll enjoy even more savings on your heating bills, as the most modern heating systems are incredibly efficient.
What are “blends”? The heating-oil industry uses the amount of biodiesel per gallon to name the specific Bioheat blend being used. For example, B5 is a blend containing 5% biodiesel, and B20 contains 20%. Bioheat fully adheres to the health-effects testing requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments, and Broco Energy proudly offers blends of up to B100!
What’s really in Bioheat? The biodiesel that’s combined with ULSHO to make Bioheat is made up of soybeans, as well as other fatty acids found in vegetable oils, recycled restaurant oils and other natural sources.
The Northeast’s heating-oil industry has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Bioheat is a big part of this effort, and we look forward to delivering it to you!
