How To Respond To A Power Outage Or No Heat Emergency
The crazier things get, the easier it is to let some important task slip through the cracks – a task like checking the fuel gauge on your home or commercial heating system, for example.
Add weather extremes and power outages to our current challenges and you can see why there is a greater need than ever for emergency preparedness.

What To Do In An Emergency
If you do run out of fuel or lose power:
- Don’t panic!
- If you’ve lost power, heat, or both, take immediate steps to retain whatever heat you have in your house: close curtains, block under-door drafts, hang blankets over doorways, etc. If you have other ways to heat your space, such as fireplace, propane space heater, or electric heater, use them. NEVER use outdoor equipment (barbecues, outdoor stoves, etc.) indoors – carbon monoxide build-up can be extremely dangerous or even deadly.
- Call our 24-hour disaster-response hotline at 781.246.1130.
